I remember that day when a simple beautiful girl, full of enthusiasm came to my house to speak about her passion of starting an organisation to promote performing arts. She is Thanuja Ravindran, a dancer herself. She named that organisation Bha.Raa.Tha. signifying Bha for Bhava or expression, Ra for Raga or music and Tha for thala or Rhythm. As I understand the motive behind this venture was her passion towards the performing arts and to encourage the new generation to appreciate and imbibe the Indian culture through these art forms. I have been extremely fortunate and blessed to have received the first lifelong achievement award from Bha.Raa.Tha.

Being a student at Bha.Raa.Tha has been such a wonderful journey. Thanuja mam makes every class enjoyable and helps us learn not just the dance steps, but also the meaning and emotion behind them. Her patience and encouragement make me want to do my best every time. I’ve learned so much about Bharathanatyam and my culture, and I’m really grateful to be part of the Bha.Raa.Tha family.
